The Metaverse has been dubbed the “next big thing” after the iPhone, according to some. It’s widely expected to fail.

There is a lot of hype about the Metaverse as a whole. We found this out after playing Second Life, Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft, Horizon Worlds, and VRChat.

Why Some People Think Metaverse Will Not Succeed

Our lives won’t be improved much by Metaverse since it is attempting to address issues that we do not have, and it is the incorrect answer to our problems.

These are the three most important questions to consider. Metaverse’s doom will be revealed in the light of these answers.

– Is there a problem Metaverse can solve?
– If we don’t have the Metaverse, what are we missing?
– What benefits can we expect from the metaverse?

Unless a product is designed to make our lives easier, it will fail. Real-world concerns must be addressed. As a result, if the product is difficult to use and doesn’t bring sufficient value, it’s not worth having.

A product is a device designed to assist us in resolving our problems. The product is pointless if it doesn’t address the issue in a meaningful manner.

That doesn’t rule out the possibility of a workaround. This implies we’ll have to come up with a new design.

Google’s Balloon Internet

Because Balloon Internet failed, it is a perfect example of what not to do when there is a real need.

As an example, rural areas of the United States still lack access to high-speed broadband internet. A significant portion of Africa lacks access to any kind of internet at all. “Balloon Internet” was Google’s attempt to solve it (Google Loon).

The concept was to use helium balloons to carry internet equipment and beam it down to the ground. It’s far less expensive than using rockets to launch a satellite. Despite the innovative nature of the concept, the project was doomed due to a variety of technological issues. Before shutting down the initiative, Google invested billions of dollars.

It wasn’t long before SpaceX conceived of the Starlink project, a plan to transmit the internet from space.

Satellite internet has been around for a long time. Satellite internet providers like HughesNet and ViaSat have been around for a long time. Geostationary satellites, on the other hand, are used to transmit the internet. There is a long distance between these geostationary satellites and the surface of our planet, which makes the internet slow, unreliable, and expensive.

HughesNet and ViaSat don’t build satellites or launch rockets. As an alternative, SpaceX offers the most affordable rocket in the world. Starlink satellites are made in-house, as are the majority of the rocket’s components.

Thus, they are able to produce and launch a large number of satellites at a low cost. As a result, they’re putting together a network of Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit to provide internet access. The distance between these satellites and the Earth ranges from 350 kilometers to 550 kilometers.

Since HughesNet and Viasat are so much more expensive, Starlink offers 100 times the speed.

With Starlink, we see a solution to a problem: high-speed internet for rural regions. Google Balloons and HughesNet, on the other hand, failed terribly.

What emerging issues do we have that metaverse can solve?

According to a lot of individuals, the Metaverse will allow us to interact in a more realistic way. We’ll conduct our meetings online. We’ll go to the Metaverse gigs, too.

Yes, there are some individuals who would want to. For anything, there’s a small but dedicated group of people who are passionate about it.

The question is whether or not it will become mainstream. We doubt it at all. The Metaverse will not fulfill our demand for social connections while we are apart. Alternatively, a video call would have fixed the problem in a simpler way.
