The future is near and big things are bound to happen in the metaverse, but that doesn’t cloud Dima Kornilov’s focus on making accessible metaverse experiences that add value (and flair!) to real people’s days.

Working at the intersection of technology, fashion, and digital identity, Dmytro (Dima) Kornilov, is doing everything they can to help realize a metaverse that we’d all like to visit and share with each other.

As the CEO of ffface.me, Dima leads an accomplished team that design, build, and launch virtual clothes, metaverse avatars, and immersive art (NFTs) for brands around the world.

“While this technology is cool, human behavior is the most important part” when you’re trying to proliferate new ideas in computing and communication, Kornilov notes to Nathan C when they chatted for The AR Minute from AWE EU, October 20-21, 2022. (awexr.com)

As someone who is “trying to make the metaverse happen,” Dima knows that relying solely on the hype and flash of new gadgets and code doesn’t cut it with consumers. XR brands and experiences must meet customers where they are and show meaningful value, or they’ve already lost the battle.

Before we build, we need to think about what we’re doing.

Understanding the multifaceted nature of human behavior, and how it changes online and in different channels is just the beginning to Dima’s iterative approach to metaverse product design and development. “Humans first use new technologies all wrong, applying them to every thinkable use case. This is how we crash-test these ideas and find what works.”

For the record, Dima’s prediction that “something big will happens soon in the metaverse,” was recorded less than a month before the release of ChatGPT, the Open AI project (https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt) that gained its first million users in just weeks and has already transformed the way creatives and businesses can use artificial intelligence (AI) in daily tasks.

Here at The AR Minute, we’re bullish on the idea that AI will mediate and direct a lot of our experiences in the metaverse; easy consumer-ready AI is a definite step in that direction.
