In this video clip, SupraOracles Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Heslin Kim talks to the Future of Finance podcast about the future of the metaverse. Heslin discusses the concept of walled gardens in blockchain and the metaverse and mentions how Meta recently sold their entire Diem division to Silvergate.
Heslin goes on to talk about how Meta is attempting to position itself at the forefront of the metaverse. Mass consumer adoption of their technology may or may not occur — branding and marketing will likely determine a significant degree of their success.
Heslin believes that it’s not always about the best tech or the most utilitarian or libertarian solution that will survive, but the tech that is best marketed and easy to understand for consumers.
In addition, there are still many situations where traditional finance players can get involved through the use of digital custodians, KYC providers that are able to onboard public addresses, and investing in wallet infrastructure, as well as any other base pieces of metaverse and blockchain infrastructure that can be developed right now.
Heslin also thinks that the metaverse is essentially a new experience. For example, it could be a new way for a customer to get involved with the products that a bank could offer, and in time, most consumers will end up choosing the technologies that are easiest to utilize.
