Last year, $54 billion was spent on virtual goods, almost double the amount spent buying music – people buy skins, outfits, and upgrades.

This interoperability thing is one of the things that differentiates Centralized metaverses from web3 metaverses – and to me, it’s on the reasons why web3 metaverses are going to overtake centralized metaverses. I see it like this, on one hand, we will have Fornites and other centralized platforms, and we will call them games or social media platforms, or whatever is a more appropriate name for them. And on the other hand, we will have metaverses – these are the platforms that build with interoperability in mind.
Imagine if you could save and keep all the achievements, upgrades, and earnings from the games you played as a kid. I don’t know about you, but I’d have some cool stuff to show.
