The MLB all star game and weekend experience kicked off with an introduction to their metaverse or “virtual world”. Working with the team at Improbable they had MLB all star game fans join in virtually to see a tour of the stadium they made and get exclusive access to an interview during the pre-game happenings.
This is one of the latest virtual world / Metaverse experiences from big brands. Will we see one for the likes of the NFL, NBA, NHL and more?
Not all virtual world footage is shown in this video. I didn’t want to show the screens showing the broadcast for copyright reasons. The metaverse experience was cool. Many will look at this and say that we should be further along with technology in 2023 but that critic comes from the graphics. The avatar heads had no eyes or mouth and people react to how it looks quicker than how it plays.
