Facebook is one of the companies that is exploring the potential of the metaverse. In 2019, the company acquired Ctrl Me Robotics, a startup that had been working on building a metaverse platform.
Since then, Facebook has been actively investing in and developing its own metaverse platform, known as Horizon. According to Facebook, Horizon is a “shared social experience where people can build and explore together.” It aims to create a virtual world that is persistent, meaning that it continues to exist and evolve even when individual users are not logged on.
In addition to building its own metaverse platform, Facebook is also working on virtual and augmented reality technology, which could potentially be integrated with the metaverse. The company has released a number of VR products, including the Oculus Rift headset, and is actively investing in the development of AR technology.

Besides Facebook are there several companies that are working on the development and implementation of the metaverse. Some of the notable ones include:
Epic Games: The company behind the popular video game Fortnite has announced plans to build a metaverse called “Fortnite World.”
Roblox: This company has created a platform for users to build and play games within a virtual world. It has a large user base and has seen significant success, particularly among younger users.
High Fidelity: This company was founded by Philip Rosedale, the creator of Second Life, and is focused on building a metaverse platform that allows users to create and share virtual experiences.
Magic Leap: This company is known for its augmented reality technology and is also working on the development of a metaverse platform.
Unity Technologies: This company provides a popular game development platform and is also exploring the potential of the metaverse.
